Being Swedish, I spent most of my summers navigating around the Gothenburg archipelago (yes, it was a hardship…!), and it was here that my passion for all things outdoors was established. Enjoying a yearlong outdoor pursuit course in the Lofoten islands, Northern Norway, I subsequently embarked on a 2-week expedition with a dog sled team in Spitsbergen (North Pole) and realised that my vocation was truly within the Outdoors. As scintillating as my marketing degree had been, there was really no competition!
Qualifying as an Outdoors Activity Instructor from Bicton College in 2001, I have been a canoe and kayak instructor for over 17 years and I am BCU 3* Sea Kayak, 4* Touring Leader and UKCC Level 2 Coach qualified. As an all-rounder, I am certified in CWLA and SPA rock climbing qualifications, and as an International Mountain Leader, I am qualified to lead groups through summer and winter mountain conditions throughout the World.
Starting out in Dartmoor and Scottish activity centres, I have gone on to lead expeditions through the Indian Himalayas, Tanzania, Ecuador and Peru & Bolivia and taught climbing in Surrey for 10 years. In March 2012, I completed a ski patrol course, Calgary, and I am qualified in Outdoor Emergency Care. Having also led canoe groups through the Swedish lake district in Dalsland, I enjoy nothing more than a campfire under the stars, and the sound of rain on my tent rather than traffic and congestion!
Growing up in Berkshire, England, I’m fluent in Swedish and English, so if you ever get overwhelmed by the scenery, I can always provide a quick Swedish lesson!
